Founder of Amos & Lila & Avid Knitter

Hey my name is Lucinda, a very happily married Mum of two.

My hubby reckons I'm the cluckiest person he has ever met and as my kids are now almost old enough to leave the nest, so........I have to satisfy my love of babies with knitting for other peoples children.

I was taught to knit as a child by my Grandmother and have been knitting for all my nephews and nieces until my passion for knitting led to Amos & Lila!

My dual passions of babies and knitting are what fills my days.

Vanessa

Creative Crafter

Hello, my name is Vanessa, mother of two young children.

I've loved knitting and crochet from a young age, which made helping create unique baby items for Amos & Lila a perfect fit for me.

As you know, looking after a family these days is fairly hectic, but I always find ways to fit in some crafting time - it helps me relax!

Living on a farm-let in the lovely Strezleki Ranges in Gippsland makes it easy to do the other activities I love; gardening and spending time outdoors with my kids.

What We Do

We love babies, we love crafts – what better combination can you get. We combine our passions in creating one-off and custom hand knitted and hand crafted baby clothing and accessories. Please send us pictures of your items in use, we love goohing and gaahing over baby pics, and seeing the results of our labours in use is what makes it all worthwhile!

Why We Do It

Five years ago I was a fit, energetic and super organized Mum of two. Although I have always been crafty (sewing, knitting, painting and crafting from an early age) I never had much time to enjoy or develop my skills.

Then it happened, a busy life of school trips, music and swimming lessons, church functions, entertaining and a part-time book-keeping job was abruptly bought to a stop with a sudden on-set of auto-immune disease.

My life has changed, a lot……… But I have so much to be thankful for. Knitting has become my passion, my interest, my self worth and a reason to keep going.

I’m joined by my sister Vanessa. As a mum of two young kids, Vanessa shares my passion for babies and woolen items. Together we create hand-crafted pieces of art for you to enjoy.

How we do it

I’m a knitter. I knit exactly the same way as my grandmother did and her grandmothers did for generations before. Two needles and a ball of yarn, and stitch by stitch I watch my creations unfold; a snuggly warm jumper, an adorably cute hat and booties set or a cosy and warm blanket.

Vanessa is into crocheting, which is similar to knitting but uses a single needle with a slight hook on the end. Crochet is more suited to lace work and smaller more detailed items.

Where we do it

All Amos & Lila items are guaranteed to be home crafted – and by this we mean “home” crafted. You can be sure that your item has been lovingly hand crafted in our own smoke free and pet free home. To be honest, almost definitely knitted whilst sitting in my favorite Jason rocker in front of my fireplace whilst sipping a cup of chamomile tea.
